I would have been satisfied with just the RAM upgrade, Processor Upgrade, XLR Combi jacks and USB C alone with a price tag of $900-$1200. I’m going to hang on to my Live II and Key 61 for now and maybe consider upgrading if I catch a good deal somewhere.
Yeah, the RAM upgrade is a pretty big deal. I like the expanded 16 audio tracks, too though. And i think its smart to save the $$ now, because if they are adding all these features to the Live, imagine what they have planned for the Key61 or the flagship MPC series.
Bro, you Super Nailed It. That’s next X and Key 61 is going to be RIDICULOUS. LOL. I can see them putting 16GB of RAM and a 10-12 core processor in those along with 4 combi xlr input jacks and 2 more 1/4 inch inputs. You know what would be crazy is if they made one of the next Key series have a separation feature like the Korg M3. That would be bananas. I hate I sold my M3. Also it would be bonkers if the RAM was finally user upgradable up to 32GB. Akai could even make it a proprietary upgrade chip(s) and make some extra money. People like me who suffer from G.A.S. would be all over that.
Yea , I'm excited for the upgrade. IF they put 16GB of ram in that machine its going to be a BEAST. More outputs PLUS usbC audio/data transfer would be better than optical. There are some people who upgraded their RAM but that's more of a warranty voider thing. HOpefully theey do something with the Force line of products. its legit where all these changes are coming from, I’d love to use it (Force) as a standalone mixing/mastering desk in addition to the MPC.. so from start to finish recording and tracking would be 100% Standalone. But they'd need to significantly upgrade the audio tracks capabilities to 32+ for it to makes sense (which I think they could do). Either way , Akai is making some pretty significant changes and I'm all about it..
